Happy Easter everybody! All right then, let's see what I have been buying from mid March till mid April. I typically make small purchases frequently, and this time is no exception. All these are additions to my existing positions: The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS.TO), Emera Inc (EMA.TO), CVS Health Corporation (CVS), General Mills Inc (GIS), Welltower Inc (HCN), ONEOK Inc (OKE), The Procter & Gamble Company (PG) and Unilever NV (UNA.AS).
While the second quarter of 2017 is well underway, let's see my dividend totals from March. Looking one year back, in March 2016 I managed to collect $150.30. Since then Avista Corp (AVA), Chevron Corp (CVX), Norfolk Southern Corp (NSC) and Textainer Group Holdings (TGH) have left my portfolio. But, Amgen Inc (AMGN) and Canadian Utilities (CU.TO) have arrived to replace those positions. Yes, quite a lot of re-adjustment has been going on. In total 16 companies paid dividend to me this month. Here is the comparison table of March 2016 and 2017 dividends:
Well, nothing seems to stop the stock markets right now. Major U.S. indexes are making new ATHs almost on a daily basis. Certainly it's nice to see your portfolio value going only upward, but to be honest I would prefer lower stock prices. Then again, I'm not able to determine the direction of markets. So, I just keep following my strategy. I have added more shares to my existing positions in Agrium Inc (AGU.TO), Algonquin Power & Utilities (AQN.TO), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), The Coca-Cola Company (KO), Medtronic plc (MDT) and Xcel Energy Inc (XEL).
And the second month of 2017 already finished, let's see if I have made any progress when it comes to dividend income. During February 2016 I managed to collect $115.82. Since then one stock, HCP Inc (HCP), has left my portfolio. But actually it was my biggest payer in February last year, so clearly I had some patching work to do. Fortunately it looks like the work succeeded pretty well. In total 13 companies paid dividend to me this month. Here is the comparison table of February 2016 and 2017 dividends:
Once again, start of a new month meant that I was on the buying front. I added to my positions in Amgen Inc (AMGN), Canadian Utilities Ltd. (CU.TO), Gilead Sciences Inc (GILD) and 3M Company (MMM). And the Unilever N.V. (UNA.AS) purchase is actually from late January. All right, let's see the details.
And so the year of 2017 is well underway. First month is in the books and it's time to sum up dividend income! Looking back to January 2016, it seems like rather quiet month now. I collected only $88.42 back then. Since then only one dividend paying company (Baxalta, BXLT) has left my portfolio. Replacing that income of $1.40 definitely was not a problem. So, I'm glad to announce that I was able to pull together a significant improvement over last year, and that January 2016 was most likely my last sub-$100 month. In total 13 companies paid dividend to me this month. Here is the comparison table of January 2016 and 2017 dividends:
Hi folks. Here are my buys from late January. Traditionally I don't have too much cash available at this time of a month, so 3 mini buys I could say. I have added more shares to my existing positions in Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM), Eversource Energy (ES) and Unilever N.V. (UNA.AS). All right, let's see the details:
